The main goal of the European Heart Association is related to the shortage of healthcare professionals in Europe that we are currently experiencing. Every country faces a huge healthcare crisis with lack of qualified personnel to meet even just the urgent needs of healthcare provision. What we see now is that in times of great demand the acceptance of lower quality is becoming more and more clear and dangerous. We believe we need to do something to make sure that we have professionals who comply to specific quality standards. This has led us to the initiative to develop an European core nursing curriculum. This core nursing curriculum will imply that healthcare professionals master specific vital competences at the required level. The core nursing European curriculum provides standardized building blocks that can be integrated into the current local curriculum. On the other hand, this will facilitate both EU and non-EU professionals to work freely across different EU countries.
